SEG Middle East organizes first Meet and Greet
|Attendees of the first SEG Middle East Meet and Greet, held 23 May 2012 by SEG Global Middle East and sponsored by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).|
The event was attended by high profile geophysicist from various constituencies; Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Oil Co. Ltd., CGGVeritas, Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA), Zakum Development Company (ZADCO), Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), OMV Exploration & Production, Geo Teric & Reservoir Exploration Technology.
Yogaani Bhatia, SEG Middle East Regional Manager, shared details of the recently established regional Middle East office and upcoming SEG activities. She also announced the formation of the SEG Middle East Advisory Committee in the Middle East. This committee was formed as a result of secure input, counsel, and engagement from SEG's constituents. This group, representing industry and academia, will guide SEG toward ways of assisting geophysicists in meeting the challenges that they face every day.
SEG's recently appointed Middle East advisory committee member, Mr. Abdulla Al Shateri, Manager, Geoscience department - ADNOC, also addressed the audience and appreciated SEG's ambition for the region and mentioned that ADNOC fully supports SEG's endeavors for the region. Mr. Abdulla Al Shateri was also joined by SEG's second advisory committee member, Mr. Hiroshi Hagiwara, Advisor Geophysics - ADNOC.
The event promoted meaningful and constructive interaction between geophysicist professionals and served as a platform for networking amongst members and for sharing up-to-date valuable facts and insights from Distinguished Lecturer, Doug Oldenburg, who delivered a talk on Imaging the Earth's near surface: The why and how of applied geophysics for the 21st century, followed by a networking dinner.
